Electrolysis-Hair Removal
What is Electrolysis?
The Only Permanent Method of Hair Removal
Unwanted hair can affect confidence and often requires ongoing maintenance through shaving, waxing or other temporary methods. For those seeking a long-term solution, electrolysis offers a safe and effective treatment option.
Electrolysis Hair Removal is recognised as the only permanent method of hair removal. Suitable for both men and women, this advanced treatment works by targeting individual hair follicles using a fine sterile probe and a controlled electrical current to permanently destroy the follicle's ability to produce new hair.
Electrolysis can be particularly beneficial for lighter hair colours, including blonde, grey, white and red hairs, which may not respond well to IPL treatments.
How Does Electrolysis Work?
Electrolysis involves the insertion of an ultra-fine sterile probe into the natural opening of the hair follicle. A carefully controlled electrical current is then delivered to the base of the follicle, generating heat and permanently damaging the cells responsible for hair growth.
The treated hair is then gently removed using tweezers. As the surrounding skin remains unaffected, electrolysis provides a precise and effective approach to permanent hair removal.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
Electrolysis can be used to permanently remove unwanted hair from both the face and body, including:
Upper lip
Chin
Neck
Underarm
Abdomen
Breasts
Bikini
Treatment plans are tailored to your individual concerns and goals, ensuring a personalised approach to permanent hair reduction.
What Does the Treatment Involve?
Your treatment journey begins with a comprehensive consultation to assess your concerns, discuss your medical history and determine whether electrolysis is the most appropriate treatment option for you.
During treatment, the area will be cleansed before a sterile probe is carefully inserted into each individual hair follicle. The electrical current is applied for a fraction of a second before the treated hair is gently removed.
Treatment duration will vary depending on the size of the treatment area and the amount of hair being addressed. Sessions can range from 15 minutes to one hour, depending on your individual requirements.
Most clients describe the sensation as a brief warmth or mild stinging sensation, which is generally very well tolerated.
Who Is Suitable for Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is suitable for all skin types and most hair colours, making it an excellent option for individuals who may not be suitable candidates for IPL Hair Removal.
It can be particularly effective for treating isolated hairs or smaller areas of unwanted facial hair.
A consultation is essential to determine suitability and ensure the treatment is tailored to your individual needs.
A consultation will be carried out before this treatment. On booking there will be a short form to complete. If we need any further information we will be in touch.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Hair grows in different stages of a continuous cycle of growth, transition and rest. Because electrolysis is most effective when treating hairs during their active growth phase, multiple treatments are required to achieve optimal results.
The number of sessions needed varies depending on factors such as:
The area being treated
The amount and density of hair
Hormonal influences
Previous methods of hair removal
Individual hair growth patterns
Your practitioner will discuss a personalised treatment plan during your consultation and guide you through each stage of your electrolysis journey.
Is Electrolysis Permanent?
Yes. Electrolysis is recognised as the only permanent method of hair removal.
Once a follicle has been successfully treated and destroyed, it can no longer produce a hair. However, because not all hairs are actively growing at the same time, a course of treatments is necessary to target each follicle at the appropriate stage of the growth cycle.
