PRP: Hair Restoration
What is PRP Hair Restoration?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Hair Restoration is an advanced regenerative treatment that uses the healing properties found within your own blood to stimulate hair follicles and encourage healthier hair growth.
A small sample of blood is taken from your arm and placed in a specialised centrifuge, which separates and concentrates the platelet-rich plasma. This PRP contains growth factors that are then carefully introduced into areas of the scalp affected by thinning hair.
The growth factors released by the platelets help improve blood supply to the hair follicles, support tissue repair and encourage follicles to enter the active growth phase.
Key Benefits
• Stimulates natural hair growth
• Improves hair thickness and density
• Helps reduce excessive shedding
• Supports weakened or dormant hair follicles
• Uses your body's own regenerative properties
• Minimal downtime
• Suitable for both men and women
How does it feel?
Most clients describe the sensation as ‘unusual’ rather than painful and only experience mild discomfort.
Mild redness or tenderness of the scalp may occur following treatment, however clients tend to return to daily activities immediately.
How often can you have PRP?
Results are cumulative, with each treatment building upon the previous one.
We generally recommend an initial course of three treatments, spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart, followed by a maintenance treatment every 6–12 months depending on individual needs and treatment response.
Hair growth occurs gradually, therefore visible improvements are typically noticed over several months.
A consultation will be carried out before this treatment. On booking there will be a short form to complete. If we need any further information we will be in touch.
What is the process?
On the day of treatment, a small blood sample will be taken from your arm by one of our qualified phlebotomist, much the same as when you have blood taken at the GPs. The blood is then processed in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma.
The scalp will be cleansed and prepared before the PRP is introduced into the areas requiring treatment using a series of small injections. The procedure takes approximately 45–60 minutes.
Mild redness or tenderness of the scalp may occur following treatment, however most clients return to their normal daily activities immediately.
Who is suitable for this treatment?
Suitable for both men and women experiencing:
• Hair thinning
• Increased hair shedding
• Early stages of pattern hair loss
• Reduced hair density
• Weakened or finer hair texture
During your consultation, your medical history, pattern of hair loss and treatment goals will be discussed to determine whether PRP is the right option for you.
