What is IPL Vascular Treatment?

Reduce Redness and Restore a Clearer, More Even Complexion

Persistent facial redness, thread veins and broken capillaries can affect confidence and leave the skin appearing flushed or uneven. These vascular concerns are common and may develop as a result of genetics, sun exposure, ageing or conditions such as rosacea.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Vascular Treatment is an advanced, non-invasive procedure designed to reduce the appearance of visible blood vessels and diffuse redness. Using carefully controlled pulses of light energy, IPL targets unwanted vascular lesions beneath the skin's surface, helping to restore a calmer, clearer and more balanced complexion.

How Does IPL Vascular Treatment Work?

IPL uses specific wavelengths of light that are absorbed by oxyhaemoglobin, the component of blood found within the targeted vessels. The light energy is converted into heat, causing the unwanted vessels to coagulate and collapse without damaging the surrounding tissue.

Over the following weeks, the body naturally breaks down and removes the treated vascular structures through the lymphatic system, resulting in a clearer and more even skin appearance.

In addition to reducing visible redness, IPL may also stimulate collagen production, supporting overall skin rejuvenation and improved skin quality.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments required varies depending on the severity of the vascular concern and your individual response to treatment.

Many clients experience noticeable improvement after their initial session; however, a course of 3–4 treatments, spaced approximately 3–4 weeks apart, is often recommended to achieve optimal results. Allowing adequate time between treatments enables the body to break down and clear the treated vessels effectively.

Your practitioner will discuss a personalised treatment plan during your consultation.

Who Is Suitable for Treatment?

IPL Vascular Treatment is suitable for many individuals seeking to improve the appearance of facial redness and visible blood vessels.

A thorough consultation is essential to assess your skin type, medical history and treatment goals. Your practitioner will determine whether IPL is the most appropriate treatment option for your concerns and advise you accordingly.

What Does the Treatment Involve?

Your treatment journey begins with a comprehensive consultation and patch test, which must be completed at least 48 hours before treatment to ensure IPL is suitable for your skin and concerns.

On the day of treatment, the area will be cleansed and a thin layer of cooling gel applied to the skin. Protective eyewear will be provided before the IPL handset is carefully positioned over the treatment area to deliver precise pulses of light energy.

Following each pulse, your practitioner will assess the treatment response to ensure the desired clinical endpoint has been achieved. Most clients describe the sensation as a mild warming feeling or the snapping of a small elastic band against the skin. Treatment is generally well tolerated and typically takes 20–45 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
