Warts & Verrucas

Warts and verrucas are extremely common viral skin lesions that can affect individuals of all ages. Although medically harmless in most cases, they can sometimes become uncomfortable, persistent or embarrassing, particularly when located on visible areas of the body or on weight-bearing areas of the feet.

At The Qlinic, we understand that stubborn skin lesions can impact both confidence and comfort. Our approach focuses on safe, professional and personalised care, with treatments tailored to your individual skin concerns and overall skin health.

What Causes Warts and Verrucas?

Warts and verrucas are caused by certain strains of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which enters the skin through tiny breaks or areas of damage within the skin barrier.

The virus thrives in warm and moist environments and may spread through direct skin contact or contaminated surfaces such as:

  • Swimming pool surrounds

  • Changing rooms

  • Gym floors

  • Shared shower areas

Because the virus sits within the skin layers, some lesions can become persistent and difficult to clear without professional treatment.

Treatment

At The Qlinic, wart and verruca treatments are performed using Advanced Electrolysis or Diathermy, supporting the body’s natural healing response whilst maintaining a safe and controlled treatment approach.

Because Advanced Cosmetic Procedures involve skin penetration, practitioners and premises are required to be appropriately registered and licensed with Derbyshire Dales Council in accordance with local authority regulations relating to skin piercing and cosmetic procedures.

These regulations help ensure treatments are carried out safely, hygienically and within strict professional standards. Registration includes inspection of the treatment environment, infection control procedures, equipment standards and practitioner competency.

Our clients can feel reassured knowing treatments are performed within a fully insured, licensed and professional clinical environment where safety and client wellbeing always come first.

What Are Warts and Verrucas?

Warts are small benign skin growths caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The virus stimulates excess keratin production within the skin, causing raised or thickened lesions to develop.

A verruca is simply a wart that develops on the sole of the foot.

Warts and verrucas may vary in:

  • Size

  • Shape

  • Texture

  • Thickness

  • Location

They commonly appear on the hands and feet

Verrucas may sometimes appear flattened due to pressure from standing and walking and can occasionally become uncomfortable or tender.

Some lesions appear individually, whilst others may develop in clusters.
